John "Jack" L. Roberts, 84, of Niles, passed away Saturday March 9, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Emergency Room.
He was born August 26, 1939, in Sharon Pa., the son of John E. (Mike) and Gertrude C. Moses Roberts.
Jack was a graduate of Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pa. and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Youngstown State University. He was employed by General Motors for 28 years. His various assignments included Supervisor-Training and Development, Coordinator Communications, Manager-Industrial Relations and at the time of his retirement, Manager-Human Resources.
After his retirement in 1992 from GM, he was employed as a realtor and also worked as a consultant including executive director of the Lake to River Health Care Coalition.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Jack in the past was involved with several community activities. He was a past member of the Academic Advisory Board at Mount Union College, the Labor-management Advisory Committee at Kent State University, and the board of trustees of the Trumbull County YMCA.
Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Niles, the Niles Masonic Lodge and the Andover, Ohio Eagles. He enjoyed many memories with his family at their summer place at Holiday Camplands in Andover.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Carol Hendrickson Roberts, whom he married on June 14, 1963; his two daughters, Kerri Fife and Kimberly Rearic (Angelo Gattone); four grandchildren, Maxine and Roland Fife, Joshua (Faith) Rearic and Katelyn Rearic; and two great-grandchildren, Mariah Fife and Philip White III.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Randall Fife and his son-in-law, Randy Fife.
As per Jack’s wishes, there are no calling hours and services will be private. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon, Pa.
