Joseph J. Mango, 94, of Niles, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at Northside Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
He was born March 19, 1923, in Niles, the son of Thomas J. and Nellie Youll Mango.
Joseph was a life-long area resident and attended Niles McKinley High School.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles. He enjoyed yard work and fishing.
Joseph worked for over 60 years as a heavy equipment operator out of Operating Engineers Hall Local 66. In his spare time, he worked at Girard Lake. He would always say “In a boat, this place looks like you are in Canada fishing.”
He is survived by a son, Thomas J. (Brenda) Mango of Fort Myers, Fla.; a daughter, Victoria Lee Mango of Niles; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Camarata Mango, whom he married May 15, 1948, and who died Nov. 27, 2001; a brother, Frank Mango; and his son-in-law, Alan J. Tobias.
Funeral services will be noon Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles. Family and friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Bazetta.
