Norma Scarnecchia Obituary

Norma Rose Scarnecchia, 86, of Niles, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where she was surrounded by her loving family.

Norma was born July 4, 1931, in Cliffside Park, N.J., the daughter of Dominick and Angiolina Piccioni Creolino.

She moved to Niles when she married her husband, John B. Scarnecchia Jr., on June 7, 1952.

She worked at Metropolitan Life. She retired after 10 years to become a homemaker and raise her children.

Norma loved spending time with her family and friends. She was passionate about attending all of her childrens’ and grandchildrens’ activities throughout the years. She loved to cook and enjoyed singing. She also enjoyed bus trips to various casinos with her friends.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, where she was a member of the womens guild and shared her passion for cooking by volunteering at the church’s pizza sales and annual festival.

Norma is survived by her husband of 65 years, John B. Scarnecchia Jr.; two daughters, Joanne (Ronald) Kennehan of Berlin Center and Lori (Michael) Proper of Niles; four grandchildren, Heather Kennehan of Dayton, Eric Kennehan of Berlin Center, Colleen Kennehan of Port Wentworth, Ga. and Joseph Proper of Niles; a sister, Antonette (Albin) Webb of Palm Coast, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews that she held dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dante Creolino.

Arrangements are being handled by the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles, Ohio. In honor of Norma’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

Monetary contributions can be made to the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Family Center Building Fund, in Norma’s name.
