Carol Abernathy Obituary
Carol J. Abernathy, 80, of Niles, died 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Autumn Hills Care Center.
She was born May 8, 1934, in Niles, the daughter of David A. and Martha Mae Kennedy Thomas.
Carol was a lifelong area resident and was a 1952 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She enjoyed golf, bowling and gardening.
Carol is survived by her two sons, Dirk (Loraine) Abernathy of Strongsville and Stuart (Vikki) Abernathy of Duncansville, Pa.; two brothers, Norman (Marjorie) Thomas and Ronald (Barbara) Thomas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin M. Abernathy, whom she married Aug. 8, 1952, and who passed away June 9, 1999; a son, Jeffrey Abernathy; and her sister, Sandra Nicastro.
As per Carol's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private family service will take place at a later date.
Arrangements where handled by the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles.
Interment will be in Niles City Cemetery.
