Dominic Sarno, 86, of Niles, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019, at Briarfield at Ashley Circle in Austintown.
He was born August 2, 1932, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Louise Chieffo Sarno.
Dominic was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church of Niles and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably serving his country in the Korean War. He retired from the city of Niles, working in the Light Department in 1995, after 24 years of service.
He enjoyed music, golfing and the numerous family gatherings.
Dominic is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rose C. Cervone Sarno; a daughter, Louise Ann Sarno of Niles; grandson, Dominic F. O’Brien of Niles; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bonanno of Niles; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and their husbands, Ann (Neal) Pallante; Madeline (Walter) Kohowski; Julia (Dan) Pecchio; a brother and his wife, Carmen (Betty) Barbone; a niece, Eloise Peterson; a nephew, Daniel Pecchio Jr.; sister-in-law and her husband, Antonette (Greg) Landolfi; and brother-in-law and his wife, Pete (Helen) Cervone.
As per Dominic’s wishes, there are no calling hours or services.
In lieu of flowers, the family request the material contributions be made to their favorite charity in Dominic’s name.
