Warren – Esther M. Tatalo Nicastro, 77, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, with her loving family by her side.
She was born January 31, 1948, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Mauro and Rita Cornicello Tatalo.
Esther was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Warren. She retired from the Trumbull County Technical Center.
Esther attended St. Mary’s grade school, where she was the spelling bee champion every year from 2nd through 8th grade — a distinction she took great pride in. She was a proud graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Class of 1966. She cherished lifelong friends she made there, especially the “Eaglettes.”
Esther was an avid reader, loved volunteering with Niles Community Services, and, most of all, found her greatest joy in being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Nothing mattered more to her than caring for her family.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Nicastro, whom she married on August 31, 1974; her daughter, Gina Nicastro of Dublin, Ohio; her son, Nicholas J. (Jamie) Nicastro of Powell, Ohio; two beloved grandchildren, Leah and Owen Nicastro; and four sisters, Mary Jo Napolet of Howland, Rosemary Mackey of Warren, Nancy (Don) Fox of Warren, and Annette (Tom) Drummond of Warren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law, Terry Mackey and Virgil Nicastro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at St. Mary Church, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Niles Community Services, 401 Vienna Ave., Niles, Ohio 44446.
The Nicastro family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff of the Emergency Room, Intensive Care Unit, and Hospice and Palliative Care teams at St. Joseph Hospital. Their professionalism, compassion, and tireless efforts will never be forgotten.
Arrangements were entrusted to Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles, Ohio. 330-652-2422. To view this obituary and send condolences to the Nicastro family, please visit www.hollowaywilliamsfuneralhome.com.
