Henry J. “Hank” Kover, 78, of Niles, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Downtown.
He was born December 8, 1945, in Warren, Ohio, the son of Henry and Mary Jeswald Kover.
“Hank” as he was known to his family and friends, was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and was a graduate of Youngstown State University with a BA degree in Business Management.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles.
Hank worked for the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 2016, after 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Hank was a fan of all Ohio State athletics and loved to visit Columbus any chance he could get. Sports were a big part of his life. He coached youth basketball and baseball for many years. To many he was simply known as “Coach.” He was a past president of the Niles Youth League. Hank was a true family man. The love and support he gave to his family will be sorely missed but the memories cherished and honored. The time that he spent with family and friends was special to him, especially with his grandchildren, whom he loved and adored.
Hank is survived by his loving wife, Patricia McGuire Kover, whom he married on September 9, 1967; his three sons, Jeff Kover of Columbus, Ohio, James (Christine) Kover of Girard, Ohio and Rick (Denise) Kover of Niles, Ohio; his daughter, Kara (Tony) Limongi of Niles and his seven grandchildren, Alia Kover, James Kover, Maia Kover, Kelli Kover, Elly Limongi, A.J. Limongi and Michael Limongi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold Kover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 16 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
