Joseph Bottiglieri Obituary

Joseph A. Bottiglieri of Niles, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, with family by his side at Shepherd of Valley in Liberty, Ohio.

Joe was born on December 15, 1946, in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late Andrew Bottiglieri and Carmella (Porpora) Bottiglieri. Joe was a 1964 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended Kent State University where he graduated with a degree in Education.  Joe began his career as a math teacher at Warren G. Harding High School where he remained for 11 years.  After his second son, Justin was born, Joe moved on from teaching to becoming a State Farm Insurance Agent and remained at service to a multitude of clients and his community for 41 years until he was diagnosed and succumbed to his battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Joe will always be remembered as a kind, thoughtful and guiding force to all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a consummate teacher, mentor and someone people could turn to in their times of need. Joe loved to travel and spend time with his great circle of family and friends. He also loved golfing, all things Ohio State, driving across the country in his red Corvette and lunch with his brothers and friends every Friday afternoon.  After his son, Justin passed away suddenly in 2002, he and his wife Stephanie spent much of their time in California near their other son Ryan and his family.

Joe will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 52 years, Stephanie (Holloway), his son Ryan (Julie (Foist) and granddaughter Stella) Bottiglieri; brothers Bob (Nancy) Bottiglieri, and Andy (Debbie) Bottiglieri; and sister Luci (RJ) Charles; brother-in-law Jeff (Debbie) Holloway, sister-in-law Lori Manroe, sister-in-law Barb (Bob) Kubes; and many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his son Justin and brother-in-law RJ Charles and brother-in-law Bob Kubes.

Arrangements were handled by the Holloway Williams Funeral Home in Niles where a private memorial service was held.  The family will hold a celebration of Joe’s life in the summer of 2024 for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (www.give.michaeljfox.org).  The family wishes to thank Shepherd of the Valley in Liberty for their kind and compassionate care.
