Joseph Caicco, 71, of Niles, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Room Boardman.
He was born February 22, 1953, in Warren, Ohio, the eldest son of Anthony and Mary (Curtorillo) Caicco.
Joe was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Class of 1971 and earned his BA from Bluffton College in 1975. He was an excellent football player for both schools. He was the lone junior starter on the 1969 Niles McKinley Red Dragons and was later elected to the Bluffton Beavers Athletics Hall of Fame.
Joe taught at Hubbard High School, where he coached football and wrestling. Years later, he also coached Niles Middle School football. He retired from Midwest Telephone, where he traveled extensively along the East coast with his beloved wife Sherri. He was an excellent cook that loved to share meals prepared with ingredients from his prized garden with his family and friends. Joe also loved his bible and having discussions about his teachings. He was a very talented artist and his family will cherish many of the works of art he left behind.
Joe is survived by his two brothers, Jerry Caicco of Niles and John (Liz) Caicco of Niles; his sister, Carmy Williams of Austintown; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Kathy Popio, who brought much joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sheryl Geddes Caicco, whom he married in 1990 and passed 2014 and a brother-in-law Ronald Williams.
As per Joe’s wishes, a private family service will be held.
The entombment will be in Pineview Cemetery.
