Josephine "Jo" Woods

Josephine “Jo” Woods, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Shepherd of the Valley Niles.

She was born on April 23, 1915 to the late Vincent and Angelina (Senzarino) Gimelli and grew up in Lowellville and Brier Hill Section of Youngstown.

Josephine was married to Buster Woods, who predeceased her in 1986. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles, the church bowling league, a member of Niles SCOPE and a member of the Niles Football Mothers Club.

She was famous for her Brier Hill pizza, enjoyed sewing, crocheting and crafts; and loved to play games and cards with family and friends.

Josephine’s memory will be carried on by her sons Charles Woods and Gerald (Sandra) Woods, both of Niles; daughter-in-law Christine Woods of California; grandchildren Pamela (Mike) Sabol, Chuck Woods, Kelly (Pat) Loney, Scott (Sharon) Woods, Holly (Scott) Libert, Christopher Woods, Stacy (Aaron) Morgan and Adam Woods. She also leaves 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her son Harold Woods, sisters Elizabeth, Clara, Mary and Rose; brother Dominic; daughter-in-law Joanne Woods and foster daughter Violet Markley.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Niles at 11 a.m., with Pastor David Conrad officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
