Neil A. (Corkey) Whetstone, 64, of Niles, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Meridian Arms in Youngstown, Ohio.
He was born May 17, 1952, in Niles, Ohio, the son of Francis A. & Rita Mae Erickson Whetstone.
Corkey as Neil was known to his family and friends was a life-long area resident and was self employed in the construction business.
He was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and watching the Cleveland Browns. An avid pool player, Corkey loved to shoot a game with his friends at the Grey Wolf Tavern and the Hole-In-The-Wall.
Corkey is survived by four sons, Brian Basilon, Robbie Chismark, Brandon Sitler, Tony Cruz, two daughters, Nealey Bond, Ashley Whetstone, two brothers, Ricky Whetstone of Youngstown, Ohio, Troy (Shannon) Whetstone of Hubbard, Ohio, five sisters, Linda (Mike) Kramer of Niles, Ohio, Sandie (Roger) Newman of Home, Pa., Cindy Conley of Gibsonia, Pa., Tina (Tom) Sakmar of Austintown, Ohio, Debbie (Jim Perron) Whetstone of Howland, Ohio, brother-in-law Robert Hastie, eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rita Mae Hastie, brother, William Whetstone and a nephew, Eugene Wrataric.
Funeral Services will be noon Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. till time of service.
The family requests that material contributions be made in Corkey’s name to the funeral home to be divided between his favorite charities.
