It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my sister, Terry L. Soroka on December 16 at 5 p.m. It is a great comfort to know that she is home and at peace with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Terry’s warmth, compassion and unwavering dedication to her family, friends and community will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of the love of music and service, that will continue to inspire others.
Terry graduated from Struthers High School where she was the 1973 Homecoming Queen. A few years later she was 2nd runner up for the Miss Ohio Beauty Pageant. She was awarded 1st place in the talent contest on the piano by the panel of judges. She graduated from YSU with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance.
Terry has been employed as an organist, pianist, accompanist, choir director, composer, music collaborator, film score writer for the movie “The Conviction.” She also did dance choreographing. She has worked in Scottsdale, Arizona and at the First Christian Church in Niles with Rev. Cynthia Klingemier and Pastor Diane Fonderlin.
She was preceded in death her parents, Steve Soroka and Margaret Soroka. Terry leaves behind her beloved sister, Stephanie Soroka Kovach of Carefree, Arizona.
My special thanks to Rob Myers and Jay Blackstone for all the care and help they offered Terry in the past several years.
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 27 from 2 p.m., with a service at 3 p.m.at Girard’s First Christian Church, 130 East Broadway, Girard, Ohio. Food and refreshments will follow the service.
