William David McKinney, 28, of Niles, passed away suddenly Friday, November 1, 2024, at his fiancé’ s residence in Youngstown.
He was born February 14, 1996, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of William P. and Kelly Lahner McKinney.
William earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Youngstown State University and was the Music/Band Director for the Western Reserve School System.
He enjoyed auto racing, was an avid NASCAR fan, photography, music and was a rail fan. He owned and raced his own car, #11, at Norton Raceway Park (formerly Barberton Speedway) and Deerfield Raceway. He was also the racetrack photographer at both tracks for almost 15 years.
William is survived by his parents, William P. and Kelly McKinney of Niles; his sister, Jolene LaNeve of North Carolina; his fiancé’, Christie Hrdlicka of Youngstown; friend and racing partner, Jeff Mundell; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his future father-in-law, Arthur (Bud) Hrdlicka.
There are no services, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
