William Prout Obituary

William J. Prout, 85, of Niles, died Wednesday, March, 1, 2017, in Niles.

He was born March 27, 1931, in Orange, N.J., the son of the late Michael C. and Mary C. Reilly Prout.

Bill was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard and was a veteran of the New Jersey National Guard. He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1681 in Niles, where he was a fourth-degree knight.

Bill was a licensed funeral director in both New Jersey and California for over 50 years, last working for the El Camino Mortuary in San Diego, Calif.

Bill is survived by two sons, John Prout and Andrew Prout, both of Wichita, Kan.; two daughters, Maureen Suprenant of Olathe, Kan. and Annemarie (Donald) Prout Green; a sister, Marie Kelly of Sparta, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Prout; a brother, Frank Prout; and a sister, Rita Hudson.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Rose Church in Girard.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2017, at Holloway-Williams Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 611 Robbins Ave., Niles.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.

The family requests that material contributions be made, in Bill’s name, to the funeral home, to be divided between his two favorite charities.
